I've carried a pocket knife everyday since my grandfather gave me my first one around first grade.  I carried one all through school. During Basic Training when told to leave knives with our personal affects, I kept mine. The only time I'm without a knife is when flying.  Then I pack a Nite Eyz DoohicKey hidden on my key chain.  It just barely satisfies my requirements.

Top is my Grandfather's scout knife, my Webelo knife, a generic Christmas present, the 'demo' knife I bought while in the Army and still carry, and the Girl Scout knife I gave my daughter.

I have a lot of knives.  I keep coming back to the stainless steel demo knife for EDC.  It does what I need.

Yesterday a huge thunderstorm came through. I had started grilling before it started.  I went out in the rain to pull the food off the  grill. When I touched the handle to open the lid the hair on the back of my head stood on end. I immediately nope'd out of there and headed back inside.  Right as I reached the back door the area was lit up.  The boom knocked pictures off the wall on both floors of the house. The trees that were hit were only 20 yards off the back deck. Fried a security cam, a GFI outlet and my new cordless phone base station. I was damned lucky.

When they plumbed it they over tightened the elbow and cracked the brass collar. See the crack? When it leaked they smeared on pipe dope and called it "fixed" leaving it for me to find years later when it started leaking again. No one gives a crap about pride in workmanship any more.
